Award in Job Coaching Persons with Disabilities
This unit will be dedicated to introducing job coaching and what the HR team should be responsible for; providing insight on talent management and development and how to maximise an employee’s performance in relation to the two; the process of reporting and recording; enabling learners to develop their own strategy in creating a log of performance, and reporting this to guardians and employers; creating an interpersonal relationship with the coachee, as well as assist the coachee in developing interpersonal relationships with coaching and colleagues; different types of employment and the role of the job coach in each process.
This accredited program is aimed to educate individuals on the role of a Job Coach. This can be for individuals who are new to the concept of Job Coaching, or for those who to delve deeper into the concept of Job Coaching in their place at work. The main aim of this program is to facilitate the individual to job coaching for an individual at the place of work. The course includes general HR practices, as well as knowledge and insight.

What you'll learn
At the end of the module/unit the learner will be able to:
Knowledge
- Know the characteristics of individuals, with regard to behavioural, social/emotional, social communication and mental health needs
- Develop awareness and understanding of different disabilities
- Be aware of student characteristics that may affect job performance
- Facilitate individuals in developing rapport with colleagues and develop interpersonal relationships
- Express clear expectations and modelling
- Create a communication strategy with guardian/s and employer/s
- Know how to be able to assess job performance
Skills
- Enable student/client engagement, self-advocacy and encouragement
- Know people's first language and etiquette
- Determine the strengths and weaknesses of the coachee
- Identify potential barriers due to the disability
- Demonstrate or model steps to be taken in job performance
- Identify expectations of all parties involved: coachee, employer/s and guardian/s
- Review and assist communication between employer/s and guardian/s
- Provide feedback to employer/s and guardian/s of coachee
Prerequisites
A minimum of O level 4 standard of education is required while a related job role is to be considered a plus.
