Job Description

The Maintenance Team Leader is responsible for overseeing the maintenance operations in the food production industry. This role involves managing a team of maintenance technicians and ensuring the efficient and effective maintenance of machinery, equipment, and facilities.

The Maintenance Team Leader is responsible for developing and implementing maintenance strategies, managing budgets, coordinating maintenance activities, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and lead a team of Maintenance Technicians, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback;
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members, ensuring efficient work allocation;
  • Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance strategies to optimise equipment reliability and minimize downtime;
  • Establish preventive maintenance programs, schedules, and procedures to ensure the smooth operation of machinery and equipment;
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of production machinery, equipment, and facilities, ensuring they are operating at optimal levels;
  • Develop and manage the maintenance department budget, including expenses for labour, spare parts, equipment, and contractors;
  • Monitor expenses, control costs, and identify opportunities for cost-saving measures without compromising quality or safety standards;
  • Strong technical knowledge of maintenance principles, techniques, and best practices. This includes understanding various equipment and machinery used in the industry, troubleshooting skills, and knowledge of relevant regulatory and safety standards;
  • Collaborate with procurement and supply chain departments to source and manage vendors, suppliers, and service providers;
  • Evaluate contractor performance, negotiate service agreements, and ensure adherence to contractual obligations.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in maintenance management;
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance principles, techniques, and best practices;
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills;
  • Further qualifications will be considered an asset.
