Job Description

We are seeking a trainee Butler to join our growing team at Iniala Harbour House. Reporting to the Head Butler, the person selected will seek to enhance our guests’ experience and provide them with a personalised service throughout their stay with us.

This position calls for discrete and diplomatic individuals, with excellent guest relations skills and an openness to learn and grow.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Greets and welcomes guests in a warm and professional manner.
  • Responds promptly and efficiently to guest inquiries, requests and complaints.
  • Provides personalised attention and offers assistance throughout the guest’s stay.
  • Assists during arrivals and departures by providing welcome drinks and luggage handling for guests.
  • Prepares room arrangements and amenities for arrivals and ensures that in-house guest rooms have been serviced during the morning shift.
  • Be aware of the minibar setup and ensure that items have been changed and refreshed.
  • Organizes inventory stocks and reports to Head Butler / Butler Supervisor for items that are running out, items’ expiration date and condition.
  • Assists in the food and beverage delivery and service in guests’ suites.  This includes setting up for private events such as lunches, dinners, and canapes parties.
  • Prepares all equipment necessary for guests’ excursions.
  • Be aware of the hotel’s dining options and menu selections.
  • Be up to date with guest’s food preferences and any allergies they may have.
  • Be up to date with guests’ preferences and requests, and liaise with other departments for laundry services, wake-up calls, spa bookings and any other special requests, supporting other departments for smooth day-to-day operation of the hotel.
  • Communicates with guests efficiently regarding their schedule of the day, and timings they wish to have their room serviced.
  • Collaborates with other teams to ensure consistent service delivery and seamless guest experience.
  • Maintains guest confidentiality and handles sensitive information discretely.
  • Carries out any other job-related duties and responsibilities as required.

Qualifications and experience

  • Previous experience in a hospitality position, ideally within a luxury or high-end establishment.
  • Excellent verbal communication in the English language. Proficiency in additional languages will be considered an asset.
  • Strong organisational and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Maintains a positive attitude and the ability to remain composed in demanding situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Well-presented, with excellent grooming standards.
  • Commitment to delivering a high level of customer service.
  • Willing to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
