Job Description

Migrant Offshore Aid Station / MOAS – an international humanitarian organisation dedicated to aiding and assisting the most vulnerable communities in the world, is looking for a creative and versatile Multimedia Content Creator and Communication Assistant to work in Malta HQ.

Job Summary
The Multimedia Content Creator and Communication Assistant will support the PR and Communication Manager in maintaining and updating digital channels and creating engaging communication materials. He/she will produce, edit, and write different materials, dealing with social media planning and posting, providing strategic input, advocacy, and proofreading. He/she must be available to travel worldwide if requested. To be successful in this role, you should have experience with digital publishing and generating traffic and leads for new ideas.

We are currently not able to assist with work permit applications or change-of-employer applications. Therefore, the position is only open to citizens of an EU country, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, and their spouses, as well as UK citizens holding a valid Article 50 residency.

Responsibilities

  • Help to create and publish engaging content for platforms such as website, social media, blogs, etc.
  • Research trends and developments relevant to relevant humanitarian subjects and draft reports when needed.
  • Aid with the visual design of communication materials.
  • Use SEO best practices to drive traffic to MOAS’s digital channels.
  • Drafting and editing communications copy and comms material.
  • Help to organise comms materials for networking or fundraising events.
  • Attending events when requested by management.
  • Organise a digital archive of visual resources (photo+video).
  • Support manager in ESC volunteers’ daily coordination.
  • Stay updated with digital marketing trends and technologies to improve content creation skills continuously.
  • Keep updated press contacts as per manager guidance.
  • Support the MOAS organisation with other duties as they arise.

Skills and qualifications

  • Solid editing and proofreading skills in English (native speakers preferred).
  • Experience with content management systems (WordPress, Hootsuite, Mailchimp).
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a content creator, journalist, or similar role.
  • Portfolio of published articles or other content.
  • Experience with social media platforms and content promotion.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of humanitarian trends and best practices is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred qualifications

  • Capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Experience in journalism and communication is advantageous.
  • Comprehensive understanding of communication and media rules.
  • Comfortability with more than one language (English mandatory).
  • Work experience with an NGO focussing on humanitarian aid is an asset.
  • Experience in the field / humanitarian work is an asset.
  • Ability to lend their previous field and academic experience to the preparation of comms materials on the occasion that this becomes necessary.
