Job Description

The Foundation for Medical Services is seeking to recruit Maintenance Officers to join its team.

Jobsplus Permit Number: 87/2023.

Reports to: CEO at respective entity / FMS CEO and/or his / her named delegate/s.

The Maintenance Officer reporting directly to the Assistant Technical Manager or Head of Operations, will be responsible for coordinating all installation, repair, and upkeep operations, facilities and equipment of the respective MFH entity. The incumbent will be responsible for inspecting different equipment and performing any basic repairs or preventative maintenance.

Tasks include:

  • Plumbing work, painting, flooring repair and upkeep, electrical repairs and heating and air conditioning system maintenance
    conducting routine inspections of premises and equipment, performing preventative maintenance, handling basic repairs and maintenance, overseeing contractors when professional repairs are necessary, diagnosing mechanical issues and correcting them, and repairing machines and equipment as necessary.
  • Ensure prompt delivery of assigned mechanical or electrical works.
  • Carry out routine checks for faulty equipment in the entity and ensuring they are promptly fixed.
  • Responsible for installing all mechanical or electrical appliances or equipment in the entity.
  • Maintaining effective inventory and loss control programme for the supplies, part tools, and equipment of the department.
  • Ensuring that the process and procedures for call-outs, maintenance, and installations, as well as standard operating procedures, are strictly adhered to.
  • Keeping maintenance logbook and reporting daily activities.
  • Participating in the periodic inspection of the entity facilities to identify and resolve issues.
  • Perform troubleshooting to solve minor repair issues.
  • Deal with emergencies, unplanned problems, and repairs.
  • Assist in the collection/transportation / assembly / dismantling of goods / equipment within.
  • Any other duties as deemed necessary

Job Criteria:
Applicants should have/be:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of proven experience in a maintenance role;
  • Secondary level of education;
  • Strong knowledge of handling different machinery and equipment, preferably in a hospital setting;
  • Good oral and written communication skills in both Maltese and English;
  • In possession of a valid driving license;
  • Knowledge of the technical features mainly plumbing, apertures installation, carpentry, and electrical systems will be considered as an asset;
  • Experience within a public entity/hospital setting or a similar environment will be considered as an asset.
  • Furthermore, candidates need to have:
  • Have clean police conduct;
  • Willing to attend courses;
  • Be proactive.

Type of Contract and Salary Range:

  • Contract Type: Indefinite with a probationary period of six (6) months;
  • Salary range: €15,500 – €17,500.
