Job Purpose
The IP Networks Manager will be responsible for managing the team in charge of the whole IP network of Epic Malta. This team provides all Core and Access network functions delivering end-to-end connectivity to the organisation’s mission-critical fixed and mobile network elements, IT infrastructure, upstream service providers, enterprise customers and the corporate LAN as well as several other services such as IP security firewalls. The role will also oversee the deployment of fixed access technologies such as PON and related tools and management systems to ensure the provision of high-quality services to Epic’s customers.

Key Accountabilities / Activities:

  • Manage the team responsible for design, implementation, and operation of Epic’s IP and Fixed networks, including routers, switches, firewalls, OLTs and other network devices.
  • Provide strategic direction to the team as regards to the most relevant technologies and the most cost-effective solutions and designs to adopt according to company strategy.
  • Provide technical input and undertake operational oversight of all the different network infrastructures within Epic Malta including IP core and edge networks, IP datacentre and corporate networks as well as IP and fixed access networks.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize network performance, availability, and scalability, while minimizing downtime and disruptions.
  • Ensure that all network elements are secure and compliant with relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the IP network team, including hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Collaborate with other departments to deliver quality service to customers, troubleshoot issues, and provide timely solutions to problems.
  • Develop and manage budgets, set goals, and monitor performance metrics to ensure operational excellence.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge in the market.

Core Competencies, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Possession of an MQF level 6 qualification in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Information Technology.
  • At least 3 years of experience in successfully managing teams and delivering high-quality services to customers.
  • Strong technical knowledge of networking technologies and protocols including IP routing, switching, firewalls and fixed access.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and customers.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills with the ability to plan, execute, and monitor complex projects.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours.
