Job Description

Emmanuel Delicata, Malta’s leading winemaker, is seeking enthusiastic and dynamic people to join the company’s sales force. An immediate and full-time vacancy has arisen thanks to the winery’s commitment to continually enhance the service it offers to its esteemed clientele.

The chosen applicant shall be a solid business negotiator and be able to show a fine track record of at least 3 years in sales and in-field marketing.

He or she must be a team player, smart, energetic and demonstrate drive and self-motivation to meet the customers’ needs and targets of the Sales team.

Whilst responsibilities include making regular service visits and underwriting new business, the selected candidate will also be involved in promotional activities that may occur outside normal working hours such as during the Delicata Classic Wine Festival.

The ideal candidate for this full-time position must possess at least an O’ level standard of education, be fluent in Maltese and English and hold a clean driving licence.

Previous hands-on sales and marketing experience is essential and knowledge of the local retail sector and the wine trade is an asset.

The above-average remuneration package will be partly based on the experience of the individual applicant.

It will include a fixed salary complemented by performance-related bonuses and the use of a company car with fuel allowance, health insurance policy and a mobile phone.

As part of his or her duties the Area Sales Manager will see to the non-exclusive tasks:

  • Core:
    • Seek out and open new accounts.
    • Prepare and negotiate new and existing contracts.
    • Develop and implement sales initiatives within the retail sector.
    • Provide customer service and sales support to all Delicata clients.
    • Monitor and follow up on sales performance and clients’ payments in relation to contractual or agreed purchases.
  • Other:
    • Organise promotional activities with existing and prospective accounts.
    • Occasionally carry out educational training sessions, particularly on wine merchandising.
    • Nurture public relations with accounts key personnel.
    • Prepare, organise and manage on a regular basis point of sale material such as wine display units.
    • Invite clients to the Delicata wine cellars and carry out a sales presentation and tasting.
    • Assist in occasional events and trade shows and act as an ambassador in the best interest for the company.
