Job Description
We are currently seeking a reliable and motivated Shop Assistant to join our team at our Mosta Shop. The position is full-time (40 hours per week including Saturdays from 10:00 to 14:00). The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting customers, organizing merchandise, and maintaining a clean and orderly store. The candidate must be able to speak both Maltese and English fluently, work independently and also closely with the shop manager and other staff members to ensure a positive shopping experience for our customers.
Key responsibilities:
- Greet and assist customers with their purchases, providing product information and recommendations as required.
- Operate cash registers and handle financial transactions accurately.
- Stock shelves, racks, and displays with merchandise, ensuring all products are properly priced and labelled.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the store.
- Receive, unpack, and price new merchandise.
- Communicate with the Store Manager and other staff members to ensure that the store is running smoothly and efficiently.
- Assist with inventory management, including conducting regular stock counts and reporting discrepancies.
- Participate in training sessions and other professional development activities as required.
Qualifications and skills:
- The ability to speak fluently in both Maltese and English language is a must.
- Prior experience in a retail or customer service environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software.
Education and experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Post-secondary education in retail or a related field is an asset.
- Relevant work experience in a retail or customer service environment.
