Job Description

As the Buffet Breakfast Chef at So City Hotel, you will be responsible for curating and executing a delightful breakfast experience for our guests. Your role is pivotal in ensuring that every guest starts their day with a satisfying and memorable meal. Working within a 3-star hotel setting, you will uphold our standards of quality, presentation, and service while catering to the diverse tastes and preferences of our guests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Buffet Preparation and Presentation:
    • Set up and maintain the buffet area, ensuring it is clean, organised, and visually appealing.
    • Arrange breakfast items attractively, paying attention to colour, texture, and variety.
    • Ensure that all food items are fresh, properly labelled, and replenished as needed throughout the service period.
    • Monitor food temperatures regularly to maintain quality and safety standards.
  • Menu Variety and Quality:
    • Prepare a wide selection of breakfast items including hot and cold dishes, pastries, cereals, fruits, and beverages.
    • Ensure that all dishes are cooked and presented according to our standards of taste and appearance.
    • Accommodate special dietary requirements and preferences, such as vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free options.
  • Hygiene and Food Safety:
    • Adhere to strict food safety and hygiene protocols, including proper storage, handling, and sanitation practices.
    • Regularly clean and sanitise buffet counters, utensils, and equipment to maintain cleanliness and prevent contamination.
    • Monitor and record temperature logs as required by health regulations.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff and servers to ensure smooth operation of the breakfast service.
    • Communicate effectively with colleagues to coordinate the timing and availability of food items.
    • Assist in training and mentoring junior kitchen staff as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry, preferably in a hotel setting.
  • Strong knowledge of breakfast cuisine, including cooking techniques and presentation.
  • Excellent organisational and multitasking skills, with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and cleanliness.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on guest satisfaction.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety regulations and procedures.
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required.
