Job Description
The Plant Engineering Section offers work in a varying, exciting and changing work environment across different set-ups in areas both inside and outside the factory. A vacancy for an Industrial Electrician exists within it.
The post is intended for day work however future deployment might vary according to business needs.
In the role, the selected candidate will be mainly, but not only, responsible to:
- Carry out preventive maintenance and repairs of electrical plant equipment;
- Conduct installations and upgrades of electrical equipment including where needed through the design and manufacture of power control cabinets;
- Work within established work practices yet at the same time take initiative, in a safe and practical manner, when addressing non-routine situations;
- Identify improvements in energy efficiency including through power factor corrections;
- Estimate costs and duration of repairs;
- Ensure that any resources, including materials needed for a particular job, will be available before starting that process;
- The chosen candidate needs to have relevant technical certificates including the Malta;
- Wireman’s license B (those studying for this will be considered) issued by REWS.
The ideal candidates will also:
- Hold other educational certificates, preferably including those in English and Mathematics at MQF level 3;
- Demonstrate an understanding of, or an inclination to learn more about, one or more of the associated trades;
- Be able to use basic computer applications such as MS Outlook, Word and Excel;
- Be able to work on own initiative and without the need for close supervision;
- Be capable of communicating effectively and assertively.
On-the-job training will be given to the selected candidate. The Company will support the incumbents in furthering their studies / certifications in business-relevant fields.
