Job Description

We are currently seeking a Health and Safety Specialist to join our team.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist the Lead – Health and Safety Officer to take all the necessary measures to ensure the health and safety at all times of all company employees who may be affected by the work being carried out for the Company by;
  • Coordinate safety programs by inspecting or reviewing construction site areas, equipment, processes, and work activities for hazardous conditions;
  • Carry out risk assessments of the various activities undertaken at the relevant workplaces within the company, including but not limited to COSHH assessments, DSE assessments, task-oriented assessments, etc.
  • Coordinate and / or give adequate health and safety training to workers and / or contractors on various health and safety-related subjects and/or procedures, including delivering toolbox talks, training, etc.
  • Review and process the Permit-to-Works (PTW) requests for high-risk activities as per company health and safety procedures, and ensure records are adequately maintained.
  • Assist in the implementation of standards and procedures to ensure compliance with required company policies, procedures, and regulations;
  • Perform periodic health and safety inspections of the assigned areas to ensure that any health and safety risks are adequately mitigated.
  • Participate and be actively involved in the health and safety committee and actively participate in assuring that the Health and Safety Culture is maintained, and awareness of the health and safety program is spread across the company through informative sessions, seminars, etc;

Requirements

  • As a minimum, a recognized diploma (level 5 MQF) in Occupational Health and Safety Management systems or any other related field.
  • Considered an asset:
    • Experience in occupational health and safety or a similar industry or environment.
    • Knowledge of government laws and regulations relating to Occupational Health and Safety.
    • Sound knowledge in the field of safety compliance and risk management.
    • Experience in conducting safety training sessions and workshops for employees to increase awareness and compliance with safety protocols.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for effectively conveying safety information to employees, management, and relevant stakeholders.
    • Proficiency in using software and tools to analyse safety data, track performance metrics, and identify areas for improvement.
    • Knowledge of local safety regulations and the ability to ensure compliance within the organization.
    • Strong problem-solving skills to address safety challenges and recommend effective solutions.
