Job Description
We are currently seeking a First Commis Chef to join our team in the Food Production department, reporting to the Chef de partie / Sous Chef.
Responsibilities:
- Operates with minimal wastage of materials and other consumables.
- Ensures that procedures in personal and food hygiene are strictly adhered to.
- Coordinates with his superiors to ensure that production runs smoothly and as scheduled. on time.
- Coordinates with superiors to ensure that catering is ready for timely delivery as requested.
- Coordinates and co-operates with superiors in the handling of any last-minute requests or amendments in the orders, thus minimizing delays.
- Ensures that all hygiene regulations (including HACCP) are strictly observed and adhered to during the deliverance of his duties, including coding, cooking and chilling temperatures and records.
- Discards and reports any product which has past its best-before date to the Chef.
- Ensures that all recipe specifications are followed with regards to cooking, weights and presentation.
- Ensures that customized diets are attentively cooked according to their special specifications.
- Reports to the Chef any faulty or hazardous equipment.
- Carries out any additional duties as may be directed by the Executive Chef or any other member of the Management team.
