Inspire is a leading NGO in Malta helping hundreds of individuals with various disabilities to achieve their full potential, as we believe that everyone has a right to equality and inclusion. We do this by providing individuals and their families with educational, therapeutic and leisure services. We also advocate for inclusion, educating the public and raising awareness among peers.

We are looking to recruit a Research Support Officer (RSO) to join our team on a full-time basis. The  RSO plays a crucial role in providing proactive, top-tier support to the Chief Services Officer (CSO) and the Research and Innovation (R&I) council in crafting the organization’s research strategy. This includes supervision, assessments, and management of research-related initiatives. They shall be expected to offer essential advice and assistance to professionals and senior management within the organization to aid in their pursuit of external research grant funding.

Main duties and responsibilities 

  • Providing administrative support for the preparation of a Research Excellence Framework and other research evaluation exercises.
  • Develop and implement support systems and business processes for research support.
  • Produce, monitor and disseminate research reporting and data.
  • Organize and deliver research-related events.
  • Author and co-author technical and scientific conference / journal papers and present same in conferences and other research functions.
  • Identify appropriate EU networks promoting Inspire initiatives within Europe.
  • Establish long-standing agreements with universities and other research institutions on research-led initiatives and training.
  • Participate in project planning, administration and implementation.
  • Produce deliverables and related reports within the stipulated time frames as specified in the project description.
  • Keep detailed progress reports and abide by all the conditions imposed by EU-funded projects including related administrative and paperwork.
  • Conduct market research both locally and abroad.
  • Actively participate in the dissemination process via workshops, seminars and other events.
  • Performing background research (qualitative and quantitative) on project activities.
  • Take the lead in EU project applications from a research perspective.
  • Compile the researched material in a systematic way and prepare background briefs / briefing  notes as and when required.
  • Provide effective support to management of the programme (and projects).
  • Responsible for guiding external RSO on specific initiatives.
  • Take part in the submission of local and international research proposals to sustain related research beyond the funding of the project.
  • Develop SOP and Policies for the Research Function.

The ideal candidate should possess the following:

  • Masters qualification (minimum MQF level 7) in Social Sciences, Disability Studies or Education with experience in research.
  • Previous experience in a relevant field.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • High proficiency in English language (both spoken and written).

Prior to being recruited and throughout the duration of employment, the selected candidates need to satisfy the requirements of the Protection of Minors Act (POMA) together with those of immunisation.
