Job Description
As a Ready-Mix Truck Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of ready-mixed concrete to construction sites. Your primary duties include operating a specialized truck equipped with a revolving drum to mix and deliver concrete to various job sites. You will play a crucial role in ensuring timely and accurate delivery of concrete while adhering to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Concrete Delivery:
- Safely operate a ready-mix concrete truck to transport and deliver concrete to construction sites.
- Follow designated routes and schedules to ensure timely deliveries.
- Adjust the drum rotation speed according to the concrete mix design.
- Loading and Unloading:
- Coordinate with plant personnel to ensure accurate loading of concrete into the truck drum.
- Safely unload concrete at construction sites, ensuring the correct slump and consistency of the mix.
- Vehicle Maintenance:
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the ready-mix truck to ensure it is in proper working condition.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as checking fluid levels, greasing moving parts, and reporting any mechanical issues.
- Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and following traffic laws.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment within the truck and at construction sites.
- Communication:
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, plant personnel, and construction site staff to coordinate deliveries and address any issues.
- Complete delivery tickets and other required paperwork accurately and legibly.
- Customer Service:
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing customer inquiries and concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
- Represent the company positively in interactions with customers and the public.
- Emergency Response:
- Respond calmly and responsibly to emergency situations, such as accidents or breakdowns, following established procedures and protocols.
- Compliance with Regulations:
- Ensure compliance with all government regulations governing the operation of commercial vehicles.
Qualifications:
- Valid Maltese commercial driver’s license.
- Clean driving record with a focus on safety.
- Previous experience as a ready-mix truck driver is preferred.
- Knowledge of concrete mixing and delivery processes.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment in a variety of weather and traffic conditions.
- Physical stamina to perform loading and unloading tasks and work in a demanding environment.
