Job Description

This Managerial role within the Intelligence Analysis section requires the selected candidate to manage the Section’s Public Private Partnership (PPP) initiatives including the identification of projects, the creation of detailed action plans, overseeing the execution of such initiatives, the exchange of information with the FIAU’s foreign counterparts as well as the sharing of information with domestic competent and supervisory authorities.

The selected candidate will be expected to manage the section’s PPP initiatives, oversee the team’s effectiveness and efficiency, assist in strategic planning and decision-making, and provide support during ad hoc projects. The chosen candidate will report to the respective Senior Manager, Deputy Head, and / or Head of Intelligence Analysis, Deputy Director and / or Director. In fulfilling his / her responsibilities, the selected candidate will be expected to supervise staff, liaise with managerial staff and colleagues within the FIAU and be the main point of contact with other relevant bodies / authorities.

The Intelligence Analysis Manager will be expected to provide direction and leadership to the Intelligence Analysts of the Section, prioritise cases as well as other tasks and projects, assign and coordinate the analysis of cases, tasks and projects, review analytical reports, draw up standard operating procedures and ensure that these are adhered to, and represent the FIAU at international meetings and workshops. The Intelligence Analysis Manager may be requested to carry out any other work as directed by the Director, Deputy Director, Head, Deputy Head and / or Senior Managers.

Requirements
The chosen candidate must be in possession of a university degree / an equivalent qualification at (MQF Level 6) in Law, Banking and Finance, Financial Services, Criminology, Insurance, Accounting or Economics, coupled with 6 years experience; including 2 years in a senior role. Candidates in possession of a university degree in another subject will also be eligible for this post, provided that they have proven experience in an area that is relevant to this position. Furthermore, applicants should be able to communicate effectively both in Maltese and English and have excellent analytical and report-writing skills. Applicants should be able to show a track record of technical competence, efficiency, leadership, ethical responsibility, and diligence to qualify for this managerial position.

The selected candidate should be highly proficient in the laws that govern the prevention of money laundering and financing of terrorism in Malta and the international standards and EU legislation in the area. Sound knowledge of the relevant EU Directives and related domestic legislation that govern financial and ancillary services would also be required, together with a high level of familiarity with the operations of the financial services sector.
