Job Description

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all areas of the Hotel including equipment, services, buildings, plant and ICT. Will also be responsible for ensuring that the hotel achieves its safety and cost control targets and a comprehensive programme must be in place so that implementation can be carried out accordingly.

The Maintenance Manager must also have the ability to lead a team and deliver results by specific deadlines through maintenance staff, therefore is also responsible for recruiting, managing and developing the team to ensure that the right skills and attitude are in line with what is required to achieve the standards required that are in line with brand guidelines. All this must be achieved within financial parameters.

The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for monitoring health and safety risks and hazards in the workplace. Also, to advise employees on how to minimise or ultimately avoid risks and hazards in the workplace and also to ensure that the business is legally compliant with all health and safety legislation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop maintenance policies and procedures and ensure the full implementation is carried out.
  • Carry out inspections of the facilities to identify and resolve issues.
  • Check electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and other equipment / machinery to ensure their functionality.
  • Plan, organize and oversee all repairs and installation activities that are taking place.
  • Allocate workloads and manage all Maintenance department team members.
  • Monitor equipment and supply inventory and place orders when necessary.
  • Prepare, monitor and control the department’s labour cost budget.
  • Prepare, monitor and control the department’s expense budget.
  • Be responsible for energy budgets and strive to achieve lower energy costs.
  • Manage relationships with contractors and other service providers.
  • Keep maintenance logs and reports on daily activities.
  • Ensure that health and safety policies are complied with.
  • Has to ensure that an effective water management system is in place.
  • Monitor and control energy management and provide recommendations when required.
  • To ensure that all team members have the necessary skills and tools to carry out tasks.
  • Create a procedure for maintenance-related purchases.
  • To prepare reports, updates and recommendations on all maintenance operations when required.
  • Be responsible to prepare payroll budgets and make sure they are achieved.
  • Monitor, control and ensure that all tasks and jobs are being carried out in the best possible manner.
  • Manage the maintenance department with outstanding leadership qualities, both personal and technical best practices must be in place at all times.
