Tower Operations Specialist

Job Description

BMIT have recently invested in passive Tower infrastructure hosting mobile equipment for the delivery of mobile services across Malta and we are now seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Tower Operations Specialist to join our team. This role will report directly to the Chief Officer – Tower Operations and will support various aspects of our operations, including system management, payments, site management, reporting, KPI monitoring, and more.

Principle Responsibilities
Tower asset management system / Process administration

  • Oversee, manage and maintain the company’s tower asset infrastructure management system, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records of tower assets, leases, and all related documentation.
  • Collaborate with technical teams and vendors to implement, troubleshoot and resolve any system issues promptly and implement enhancements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Act as the point of reference for the tower asset management system and process.
  • Oversee the payments and invoicing process to site owners, contractors, and mobile operators promptly and accurately, whilst maintaining detailed records of the process.
  • Oversee lease agreement time frames, including renewals, amendments, special conditions, and respective monitoring.

Reporting and KPI Monitoring

  • Generate regular reports on key operational metrics, financial performance, site data, contractor costs, and lease agreement status.
  • Develop, track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational efficiency and effectiveness related to Tower infrastructure and operations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to address KPI performance gaps and optimize processes for continuous improvement.
  • Present reports to management in a timely and qualitative manner.

Site Management

  • Maintain accurate records of site documentation and updates, including site configurations, leases, permits, drawings, photos, inspections, health and safety records and maintenance schedules.
  • Assist the team in new site searches, site owner communication and appointments, architectural and legal follow-ups and other coordination efforts as required.
  • Assist in the negotiation and management of contracts with clients, system vendors, and service providers.

Team Player

  • Be an effective team player and collaborate effectively with other stakeholders, including finance, legal, architectural, sub-contractors and mobile operators, to support operational initiatives and resolve issues.
  • Be open to new ideas, trigger proposals of improvement, and facilitate communications across the function.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven experience in operations support, preferably in the telecommunications or tower infrastructure industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Business Administration, Operations Management, IT Operations or related field preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and generate actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
