Our client Mercan Jewellery Limited is a newly established franchise of a well-known Turkish jewellery chain. Mercan is in the process of establishing itself in Malta with the opening of a new flagship store in Valletta.

Job Role
- Maintains records of financial transactions by establishing accounts, posting transactions, ensure legal requirements compliance.
- Develops a system to account for financial transactions by establishing a chart of accounts, and defining accounting policies and procedures.
- Preparation of bank reconciliation statement.
- Maintains historical records by filing documents.
- Complies with income tax, VAT, and local legal requirements by studying requirements; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing reports; and advising management on needed actions.
- Balances general ledger by preparing a trial balance; and reconciling entries.
- Assist in preparation of VAT return workings VAT return filings.
- Assist in annual income tax audits and procedures.
- Prepares financial reports by collecting, analysing, and summarizing account information and trends.
Essential Qualifications
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a similar field.
- Must have sound knowledge of accounting software like Sage, SFM, Xero, etc.
- Minimum 2 years experience as an Accountant.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Good Verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of the Turkish language is essential.
