This intensive and in-depth practical course is suitable for those wishing to change their career or for those passionate about working in a creative environment. No previous hairdressing experience is necessary.
At the end of the course, you will gain an ITEC International Level 2 Diploma recognised worldwide.

What you'll learn
- Advice and consult
- Shampoo and conditioning hair and scalp
- Style and finish (smooth, volume, movement)
- Colour and lightening (tinting and foil highlighting)
- Round cut (uniform 90 degrees, layers)
- Rectangular cut (very graduated)
- Triangular haircutting (soft graduations)
- Set and dress hair (vertical and horizontal roll, rollers placement, straighteners, tongs)
- Salon reception duties
Plus one optional module chosen from:
- Hair extensions
- Men's cut
- Plait and twist hair
Additionally, students can choose to develop their knowledge and skills further by undertaking a level 3 qualification.
Classes (Maximum 5 students) are taught through practical demonstrations, academy and salon practice, distance learning, digital platforms, and one-to-one attention to each student’s work. Students work on each other, mannequins and models with a practical hands-on approach. This course is taught and assessed by Alex Volpe Academy's principal educator UK trained with more than 30 years of experience as a Hairdresser in salon work, Films, TV and media.
Potential Employment
This course includes all the required elements to work effectively as a junior hairdresser. Once completed you could work in a variety of different sectors, which might include:
- Commercial salons
- Independent / self-employed / mobile / home-based settings
- Cruise liners
- Television
- Film
- Theatre
- Media
Course Options
- Two days per week usually Mondays and Tuesdays 9:30 am to 12:30 pm or 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm for 8-10 months. Work experience will be essential for professional development and students will be able to practice in the Academy’s salon on a flexible basis throughout the duration of the course (Assistant practice) or you will be able to witness the salon's work (Watch and learn).
- One day per week usually Mondays and Tuesdays 9:30 am to 12:30 pm or 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm for 17 - 20 months.
