Job Description

EHLION specializes in technical translations and language consultancy. We’re active in all language-related areas of international communications, working in over 80 languages in more than 700 combinations. We love our work and the aesthetics of language. and are not prepared to compromise on the latter in terms of quality.

A vacancy has now become available for a position (30-40 hours per week, employed or freelance) as Project Manager in our Project Management Department in our Malta Office and we’d like our new colleague to start on or around the 1st of November 2018.

The ideal candidate will be able to handle translation projects. A basic command in CAT (Across, SDL TRADOS, MemoQ) is an advantage. She / he will be a multi-tasking, organizational whirlwind with the ability to juggle multiple projects in various languages whilst managing clients and suppliers and keeping abreast of everything as well as being au fait with even the tiniest detail at all times.

We’d welcome a colleague who’ll take a diligent, responsible and structured approach to the task and who – following an in-depth induction by our existing team – will be able to independently coordinate and take personal responsibility for projects, completing them to the highest possible standard. An aptitude for structured thinking (to the nth degree) and, at times, the ability to think laterally are prerequisites in this area. You also need to love a challenge – how about 5 simultaneous projects, each in 7 languages, to be delivered by the day before yesterday? What’s important is that mastering this type of challenge on time and to the highest possible standard should not only benefit us and delight our clients, but should also give you a personal thrill.

Typical tasks within the Project Management Department include the preparation of quotes and bids, managing projects from order placement through to final completion via our Plunet Business Manager system and assigning them to our freelance colleagues after preparing the appropriate packages in SDL TRADOS and Across, the two CAT tools we use in house. We work in a wonderful, eclectic, multifaceted, sometimes exciting and always culturally interesting sector that never gets boring. That’s what we love about our job: there’s always something new. Above all, the variety of projects is always personally enriching: in addition to translation projects (our core business), we’re also involved in film subtitling, commissioning voice-overs, managing the deployment of interpreters (who we then support on site), collaborating on localization projects with our clients’ branch offices, coming up with special solutions to unique problems and recruiting teams for confidential or particularly urgent projects.

In addition to all the previously mentioned qualities, the colleague with whom we wish to enter into a long-term collaboration will be both computer savvy and linguistically gifted. A good command of at least one other language in addition to English and Maltese is crucial as is an advanced knowledge of MS-Office applications.

In addition to being able to handle all of that and more, the new colleague we’re looking for has to be an all-round good egg to fit in with our existing great team. What we’re definitely not after is someone on a “my house – my car – my boat” career path at any cost. Instead, we’re looking for a confident, if quirky, multi-tasking genius with a passion for project work. So, go ahead and send us your application along with your CV/résumé and a covering letter. Tell us who you are, what motivates you and what you’re passionate about.
