Job Description

EHLION specializes in technical translations and language consultancy. We’re active in all language-related areas of international communications, working in over 80 languages in more than 700 combinations. We love our work and the aesthetics of language.

We have been operating at an international level since 2012 and established a presence in Malta in 2016. To expand our local operations there, we wish to recruit a “Marketing / Business Development Assistant” with main task focus on sales, business development and customer acquisition, to start work on or around the 1st of November 2018, 30-40 hours per week, employed or on freelance basis.

We envisage our new colleague as an organizational, multi-tentacled power plant with the ability to master multiple parallel tasks with such regal serenity that the “i”s are dotted and the “t”s are crossed in everything from the most banal paperwork to processes of the highest complexity and everyone understands what is required of them – in other words, a proactive colleague, bursting with energy for whom anything is achievable and possible, who sees straight through supposed hurdles, whose inborn motivation drives them to find solutions outside the box and who will make a passionate and genuine commitment to our performance as a team; a decent sort, whose “let’s-just-do-it” attitude somehow always gets results without being pushy and abrasive and who completely identifies with our values.

We’d welcome a colleague who’ll take a diligent, responsible and structured approach to the job and who – following an in-depth induction by our existing team – will be able to independently coordinate and take personal responsibility for his or her assigned tasks, completing them to the highest possible standard. An aptitude for structured thinking (to the nth degree) and, at times, the ability to think laterally are prerequisites in this area.

Your responsibilities will include evaluating and establishing contact with customers, sending out our documentation as well as arranging and participating in customer meetings. You will also be required to evaluate and attend local and international trade fairs. Your other responsibilities will include finding and collaborating with local services and service providers as well as preparing, checking and entering data of various sorts into our system, monitoring other executive bodies, and a varied host of other tasks, often in close collaboration with our executive management team.

We work in a wonderful, eclectic, multifaceted, sometimes exciting and always culturally interesting sector that never gets boring. That’s what we love about our job: there’s always something new. Above all, the variety is always personally enriching: in addition to translation projects (our core business), we’re also involved in film subtitling, commissioning voice-overs, managing the deployment of interpreters (who we then support on site), collaborating on localization projects with our clients’ branch offices, coming up with special solutions to unique problems and recruiting teams for confidential or particularly urgent projects.

The colleague we wish to appoint for this long-term collaboration must be a real expert in this area and, above all, must love the job because that will motivate him or her to grow with us. A good command of at least one other language in addition to Maltese and English would be beneficial as is an advanced knowledge of MS-Office applications. As we work on an international level, a willingness to travel is a mandatory requirement.

In addition to being able to handle all of that and more, the new colleague we’re looking for has to be an all-round good egg to fit in with our existing great team. What we’re definitely not after is someone on a “my house – my car – my boat” career path. Instead, we’re looking for a confident, if quirky, multi-tasking genius with a passion for administrative challenges. So, go ahead and send us your application along with your CV / résumé and a covering letter that tells us a bit about who you are, what motivates you and what you’re passionate about. Please indicate your salary expectations.
