Purpose of the position
The Finance Manager WAM (location Malta) will have responsibility for all financial planning and controlling related to WizzAir Malta AOC and is expected to deliver best-in-class forecasting, financial analysis and insights while driving relentless process improvement and cost reduction.

The successful candidate will also be expected to drive process improvement initiatives to ensure the financial planning and control processes remain scalable with the growth of the business.

The main focus of the role will be to take responsibility for all financial planning and controlling related activities to WizzAir Malta AOC.

This includes:

  • AOC budgeting and forecasting, linked with business planning
  • Financial reporting and analysis to report AOC decision-making
  • Preparation of financial materials for the WAM Board and participation in Board meetings
  • Interrogation, challenge and recommendations regarding cost management at every level within the AOC, including a focus on primary cost drivers and metrics of AC utilization, crew utilization, completion rate and punctuality
  • Being a core member of the WAM Management team, working with all functions, including integrated ops planning and analytics, development of AOC business cases
  • Provide a strong functional link between AOC and the Finance department
  • Identification and tracking of cost initiatives
  • Participation, on behalf of AOC, in the route profitability process and cost review sessions
  • Liaise with external financial, compliance and tax auditors as necessary for AOC-specific activities
  • Developing the annual budget and three-year plan and updating the monthly forecast
  • Leading performance and accountability meetings with senior management to present the latest trends and analysis
  • Contributing to month-close activities, reporting, and analysis


  • Completed university degree, preferably in Economics, Finance or Accounting
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with at least 2 years of professional background in a finance or controlling role
  • Strong technical understanding of accounting principles with an emphasis on IFRS 16
  • Hard-working and can-do attitude
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Able to hold your own presenting to senior management
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Excel
  • Airline experience or experience with finance and controlling organization is a strong plus
  • Experience with SQL databases, Power BI is an advantage
