Job Description

V.J. Salomone Limited, a leading and well-established importer and distributor of renowned international brands. The company is seeking to recruit a Shipping Administrator on full-time reduced / part-time basis.

Reporting directly to the Accountant, the primary function of the employee will be to coordinate shipments ensuring that merchandise arrives safely, in good order and on time. The main duties and responsibilities will include the following:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage all important documents such as advanced shipping notice; pick slips, bills of lading, AWB’s, reports container temperature readings etc
  • Liaising with freight forwarders and shipping lines
  • Collaborate with warehouse, purchasing and other managers to optimise processes
  • Open claims with supplier / local insurance provider when stock is damaged
  • Liaise with the various other internal departments on a daily basis
  • Processing documents when necessary, and
  • Compiling necessary reports on a weekly / monthly basis

Requirements:

  • Be fluent in both verbal and written Maltese and English
  • Be trustworthy, and polite
  • Be organised and efficient
  • Be computer literate and proficient in the use of Excel, Word and other office applications
  • Possess excellent communication skills
  • Possess a positive can do attitude, enthusiasm and an ability to work on own initiative and under pressure
  • Basic knowledge in Accounts and a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role will be considered an asset
