The position of Sous Chef has arisen within The Westin Dragonara Resort, a leading five-star resort on the island.
In this role, the successful candidate will be assisting the Executive Chef with all kitchen operations, by being accountable for the overall success of the daily kitchen operations.
S/he will exhibit culinary talents by personally performing culinary tasks while leading the kitchen staff and managing all food-related functions. The selected applicant will work to continually improve guest satisfaction while maintaining the operating budget. Other duties include the supervision of all the kitchen areas to ensure that a consistent and high-quality product is produced and the responsibility for guiding and developing direct reports whilst ensuring the achievement of sanitation, culinary policies, standards and procedures.
The following requisites are deemed to be important in carrying out this role:
- Higher Diploma in culinary arts / food preparation and production or related major
- Minimum of 3 years work experience in a similar role in the Culinary area
- In possession of strong leadership skills as well as sound interpersonal, verbal and written skills
- Applicants must be organized, excellent team players, professional and goal-oriented, capable to work in a fast-paced and dynamic kitchen environment
