Job Description

An exciting opportunity exists to join a dynamic, multi-national aviation-focused group of companies.

The SUM Aviation Group owns and operates several diverse but related aviation businesses in Europe. Among them is our company Bravo Aircraft Technical Services Limited, that specialises in providing aircraft maintenance services to leasing companies, airlines and private owners. Our primary function is as an EASA Part 145 Organisation providing line and limited base maintenance services. We are currently looking for Quality and Safety Executive to join our dynamic team. This role will be on a full-time basis and will be based in Malta. A part-time application may be considered.

The Quality and Safety Executive support the Quality Manager to control Quality Assurance and ensure Company and Airworthiness Authority requirements are achieved and maintained.

The Quality and Safety Executive Principal Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring compliance with, and adequacy of, procedures required to ensure safe operational practices and airworthy aeroplanes;
  • Verifying, by monitoring activity in the fields of maintenance, that the standards required by the Authority, and any additional requirements defined by BATS, are being carried out under the supervision of the relevant post holder;
  • Administrating and controlling quality assurance, ensuring company and Airworthiness Authority requirements are achieved and maintained;
  • Monitoring of the implementation (with the modalities and within time limits specified) of regulations issued by aircraft registration Airworthiness Authorities and EASA / Competence Authority for the whole company’s departments issuing compulsory actions;
  • Establishing and distributing all relevant procedures and methods inside the Organisation and extends to all operating units and to any sub-contracted organisation;
  • Company manuals assessment, after the post holders updating due to compliance with EASA / Competence Authority requirements;
  • Administrating and control of the MOE, maintenance procedures manual and maintenance forms;
  • Checking that such procedures are followed both by the company and by third parties to whom works are subcontracted or material is bought, through systematic and open access to all parts of the company, as well as, to any sub-contractor’s organisation;
  • Maintaining a sound knowledge of legal and legislative requirement relating to BATS approvals issued by EASA / Competence Authority;
  • Ensure liaison with Regulatory Authorities;
  • Monitoring quality standards in all matters related to EASA / Competence Authority requirements;
  • Ensuring with a working plan that all known instances of non-conformity to the quality standards, however, revealed, are investigated to the level required and that appropriate timely corrective action is taken to prevent a recurrence;
  • Maintaining a periodic review with the AM to ensure corrective actions as required;
  • Competent Authority audit follow-up;
  • Maintaining a good knowledge and experience of the company procedures to become the focus of any modification and implementation of the audit instructions and audit tasks;
  • Procuring clear, concise and accurate documentation for the audit tasks;
  • Receiving and distributing inside the Organisation all EASA / Competence Authority communications;
  • Ensuring that all data necessary for reference to the Quality Auditors to undertake their allocated tasks area are available;
  • Performing audits i.a.w audit plan. Reviewing audits conducted by other approved auditors;
  • Co-ordinating and scheduling audits in accordance with the audit plan;
  • Findings follow up for internal and external audits; verifying that corrective action is taken by the manager responsible in response to any finding of non-compliance;
  • Monitoring the implementation and completion of corrective actions;
  • Provide management with an independent assessment of corrective action, implementation and completion;
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of corrective action through the follow-up process;
  • Reporting immediately to AM any incident, accident or occurrence affecting the a/c airworthiness, for further action;
  • Administration and control of all quality staff; evaluating specific training needs (initial and continuation) for all CS personnel involved and will monitor the effectiveness of given training;
  • The effectiveness of changes resulting from proposals for corrective action identified;
  • Ensuring that the quality assurance programme is properly established, implemented and maintained;
  • Approving the concession / exemption, ensuring the follow-up and informing the AM / competent authority in case of expired concession / exemption without closure;
  • Issuing the ‘Qualification Certificate’ for the qualified sub-contracted organisations;
  • Issue certification authorisations for qualification of BATS personnel;
  • Removal and revocation of certification authorisations when necessary.

Technical Requirements:

  • Candidate to either have graduated from a university or to be the holder of a valid Aircraft Maintenance Licence in category A, B1, B2 or C, or, have a general engineering background at a minimum of Higher National Diploma (or equivalent level);
  • With a minimum of 2 years experience within a maintenance environment;
  • A formal quality auditor training course;
  • EASA part-145 regulations training;
  • Initial and continuation trainings (HF / EWIS / FTS);
  • Candidate should have a proven record of conducting audits as an independent auditor.

Other Requirements:

  • Demonstrate the following competencies: stress-resistant, flexible, initiative, effective teamwork, effective communication, highly organised and efficient;
  • Be able to work under tight deadlines and pressure;
  • Be able to work independently and take decisions balanced by cost and capability considerations;
  • In possession of a valid driving licence;
  • In possession of Maltese ID card;
  • A satisfactory police record report;
  • An EU national or hold the full privileges to work within the EU.
