Position Overview
We are seeking a part-qualified Accountant who wishes to complete their studies while gaining hands-on experience in both accounting and higher education management. This role offers a unique opportunity to grow into a future CFO position as our institution expands.
Key Responsibilities
- Accounting and Finance (60%)
- Monitor and control expenditure to ensure cost-effectiveness
- Maintain accurate financial records and perform daily bookkeeping duties
- Process accounts payable and receivable
- Manage payroll processing and related documentation
- Prepare and analyse monthly management accounts and financial reports
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting
- Prepare and maintain cash flow forecasts
- Handle banking relationships, bank reconciliations and cash management
- Ensure compliance with accounting regulations and tax requirements
- Collaborate with colleagues to provide financial insights and support decision-making
- Support external audit processes by ensuring compliance with Maltese and international accounting standards
- Management Support (40%)
- Assist the Head of Institution with administrative and management tasks
- Support strategic planning initiatives
- Help coordinate institutional projects and programmes
- Assist with regulatory compliance and quality assurance
- Contribute to operational efficiency improvements
- Prepare management reports and presentations
- Assist in the implementation of Artificial Intelligence research and productivity aids
Required Qualifications
- Part-qualified Accountant (ACCA/ACA/CIMA or equivalent)
- Preferably holder of a bachelor’s degree
- Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience
- Excellent English language skills (written and verbal)
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in accounting software and MS Office
