As a result, we are looking for a Finance Officer to join the Accounting team here in Malta to assist the senior accountant with day-to-day accounting duties. The selected candidate will also be assisting in compiling end of month accounts and financial statements. Reporting to the head of finance the post includes bank, creditors and debtors reconciliations yet not limited to any other adhoc reporting as may be required by the finance department.

Additional Responsibilities include:

  • Assist in new accounting system migration and testing
  • Posting of STFS and other group entities’ vendor invoices and payments
  • Posting STFS current and merchant settlement bank accounts
  • Record all monthly required journals and report on performance internally
  • Support senior accountant in accounting and statutory reporting including preparation of accounts, reporting to the MFSA and the annual audit
  • Preparing direct debit files for upload by the treasury
  • Investigate failed direct debits
  • Handling the chasing process for unsettled invoices by merchants
  • Handling creditors reconciliations and aged creditors reporting
  • Handling profitability reports
  • Reconcile and control Petty Cash for the Malta office
  • Assisting in month-end procedures and other adhoc reporting

The ideal Candidate:

  • Knowledge of generic financial processes
  • An understanding of electronic banking systems
  • An understanding of operational risk and controls
  • An understanding of accounting principles
  • Ability to communicate in English and via standard desktop tools
  • Ability to manipulate data using Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Demonstrates attention to detail for accuracy and completeness
  • Conscientious, reliable, diligent and able to work unsupervised
  • A willingness to continue to develop professionally and personally
