We are looking for a Junior Systems Administrator to join our Resort.

The Junior Systems Administrator is responsible for maintaining, upgrading, and managing our software, hardware, and networks. Whilst being resourceful and able to diagnose problems quickly and solve them, the Junior Systems Administrator should also have the ability to communicate accurately and clearly, with a variety of interdisciplinary teams and users, to ensure that our technology infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently.

Responsibilities:

  • Build an internal wiki with technical documentation, manuals, and IT policies
  • Ensure security through access controls, backups, and firewalls
  • Install and configure software and hardware
  • Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements
  • Set up accounts and workstations
  • Troubleshoot issues and outages
  • Upgrade systems with new releases and models as needed
  • Support end user needs either remotely or onsite. Employee support is generally 80% onsite and 20% remote support via remote desktop tools
  • Assist with daily IT Help Desk to provide onsite support when needed
  • Configuring new devices including but not limited to company desktop computers, cell phones, tablets, and laptops
  • Common administrative tasks such as new account creation, rights assignment, and password reset
  • Provide support for essential company applications
  • Act as an advocate and driver of IT security initiatives and standards
  • Assist with managing company phone / cell phones and updating company directory
  • Assist with maintaining servers, desktops, laptops, printers, switches, routers, and appliances
  • Assist in managing network and technology tools
  • Troubleshoot hardware errors with printers, laptops, phones and network resources
  • Testing and terminating CAT6 cables as needed
  • A successful person in this role must be comfortable with taking on responsibilities as required and continually looking for opportunities to improve the enterprise technology infrastructure
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Assets:

  • Higher national Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline would be considered an asset
  • Proven experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management
  • Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup / recovery would be considered an asset
  • Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively and flexibility with work schedule to accommodate last-minute requests
  • Ability to work a variable shift pattern
  • Possess an eye for detail and the ability to work under pressure
  • Resourcefulness and problem-solving attitude
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-moving environment
  • Working knowledge of various computer software
