Role Overview
We are seeking a technically driven and experienced individual with a solid background in the Sportsbook industry and a strong passion for sports and statistics. This role requires familiarity with either SQL, Splunk / ELK, Azure Log Analysis, or similar query languages to support and optimize trading operations across Pinnacle’s platforms.

The primary objective is to ensure the seamless operation and continuous improvement of Pinnacle’s trading systems. A key aspect of the role includes understanding Pinnacle’s domain in-depth to provide effective support during major sportsbook events. The role involves flexible scheduling, including one weekend day, to maintain optimal coverage during critical sporting events.

As part of Pinnacle’s multinational Trading Systems team, you’ll collaborate across departments and gain exposure to the inner workings of a world-class, tech-driven sportsbook, with ample opportunities for career growth and training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor trading systems continuously to ensure stability and uptime, particularly during critical business hours and major sporting events.
  • Liaise with the Trading, Development, and R&D teams to bring new products online based on business needs.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve system issues, escalating complex problems to the Trading and Development departments when necessary.
  • Conduct thorough root cause analysis for system failures, implementing preventative measures to avoid future incidents.
  • Regularly track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to system health, issue resolution times, and the success of new product integrations.
  • Utilize monitoring tools such as Grafana, Splunk, or ELK to track performance, immediately addressing any anomalies to maintain optimal system functionality.
  • Expand the scope of products supported by the trading systems to drive business growth.
  • Capture trading operational needs, translating them into actionable items for development teams.
  • Ensure trading systems are scalable to handle increases in transaction volumes and accommodate the introduction of new products or markets.
  • Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date documentation of system configurations, workflows, and operational processes for both internal reference and training purposes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience and Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Economics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience working with ticketing systems like JIRA, Zendesk, or other incident management platforms.
  • Professional experience in sports betting or trading.
  • Knowledge of SQL for querying large data sets, troubleshooting database-related issues, and optimizing system performance.
  • Experience with general query language enabled log indexing systems such as Splunk or ELK is a plus
  • Grafana knowledge is a bonus.
  • Basic knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell) is a plus.

  • Ability to assess and prioritize tasks and system issues based on urgency and business impact.
  • Initiative to work independently but also work effectively with team members.
