Job Description

We are currently seeking a Stores Officer to join our client WasteServ in Magħtab.

Responsibilities

  • Checking to ensure that the inspection procedures laid down are carried out before materials and parts are accepted into stock;
  • To assist in the loading / unloading, unpacking and storing of materials, supplies and spares;
  • Check and count goods before issue, despatch the selected items required and handle them over to all users and ensure that all stock is issued according to company procedures;
  • To ensure identification of all materials stored and that proper accurate records are kept in documentation including stock location, tagging of product and quantity;
  • Invoices received are complete with all the required information including processing POs and GRNs;
  • Materials handling involves movement and handling. This can be manual or mechanical (e.g. by use of a pallet stacker or fork lifter) heavy items, chemical or inflammable goods, and delicate merchandise have all to be handled differently. Some equipment may require personnel certification with training in order to operate;
  • To maintain proper cleaning of the stores’ area and equipment in an organised manner (i.e. checking and removal of spillage of oils, damaged pallets, obstructions and cleaning dirty floors;
  • Coordinate with the Maintenace team on any urgent equipment, spares and supplies required to be dispatched;
  • To ensure adequate stock levels are maintained and place orders as necessary in line with stores policies and procedures;
  • To perform stock controls including participating in periodical cycle counts and stock takes as instructed by direct Line Superior;
  • To participate actively in any training deemed internally by the company from time to time;
  • To perform any other duties which may be assigned from time to time;
  • To follow all applicable WasteServ’s official quality, environmental and health and safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications, experience and skills required
The selected candidates should have:

  • Knowledge of IT;
  • Proper knowledge of basic bookkeeping and inventory management;
  • Familiarity with standard concepts and best practices in a stockroom environment;
  • Ability to make accurate mathematical computations;
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in both English and Maltese;
  • Competencies in data entry and analysis;
  • Attention to detail and ability to effectively manage time;
  • Ability to operate manual or mechanical equipment safely and legally;
  • Skills to operate common office equipment;
  • Be able to work on own initiative and have a hands-on approach;
  • Clean and recent police conduct;
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to acquire and maintain forklift licence or mechanical stacker certification within a stipulated company’s time frame;
  • Physical ability to frequently lift and carry materials weighing up to 10 kgs, and occasionally up to 20 kgs.
