Job Description

We are looking for Fiber Optic Technicians to join an existing team of Engineers and Technicians working on Melita’s external fiber infrastructure. The Fiber Optic Technicians will install, maintain, and repair fiber optic cables and related equipment within Melita’s outdoor fiber infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Installation and termination of fiber optic cables, mainly on external infrastructure.
  • Installation of optical passives and equipment in street cabinets
  • Prepping and splicing of fiber optic cables in splice enclosures
  • Testing using OTDR, optical power meter and fiber identifier.
  • Troubleshooting of preventative/emergency issues on fiber optic networks.

Job requirements:

  • Technician level qualifications
  • Knowledge of fiber networks and troubleshooting
  • Ability to read and interpret network maps.
  • Familiarity with optical test equipment.
  • Be a dedicated team player with good interpersonal skills
  • Good verbal and written communications, including in English
  • Be able to work to a flexible schedule when the need arises
  • Ability and willingness to work at heights and in all weather conditions
  • Have a valid driver’s license. B license is a must, C license preferred
  • Experience on FTTx networks or similar would be considered an asset
