Job Overview
Reporting to the CEO, this is a critical strategic and operational role, fundamental to the growth plans of the organization and for delivering our high-quality medical services worldwide.

The Head of HR has full responsibility for the international HR activities of the organisation, with duties centring on employee lifecycle management and managing the HR team, procedures and processes. In addition, Medilink International’s Head of HR is responsible for ensuring that client international HR staffing services are delivered professionally and in full accordance with service level agreements.

Responsibilities for Head of HR:

  • Consult senior-level stakeholders across the entire organization to identify business needs and formulate the HR strategy aligned with the growth and development plans of the organization
  • Understand the complexities of global employment and develop strategies for global employment which meet the needs of the company and its employees
  • Implement the HR strategy, providing direction, guidance, and training to HR staff, and oversee all HR operations, those internal to the organization as well as those related to the delivery of client staffing contracts
  • Devise the recruitment strategy and oversee its implementation; interview hires where necessary
  • Develop, manage, and track the HR department’s annual budget and report on current and future staffing costs and initiatives
  • Ensure legal compliance is met in all HR activities in all the countries of operation
  • Update and review HR policies, procedures and guidelines, and enforce organizational values
  • Lead the adaptation of corporate HR policies to meet the requirements of local legislation in countries of operation
  • Ensure smooth delivery and operation of HR services by monitoring performance and employee development, identifying and managing risks, making recommendations for improvement
  • Conduct and co-ordinate performance reviews
  • Oversee employee training and development
  • Co-ordinate remuneration policies and advise senior management on staff compensation and benefits in reference to external benchmarks
  • Administer financial elements such as payroll and compensation and benefits
  • Establish and manage employee relations programs, provide counselling, address employee grievances, and interpretation of company policies
  • Oversee and advise on all HR related corrective and disciplinary actions
  • Oversee employee terminations and conduct exit interviews
  • Oversee staff attendance and absentee monitoring
  • Manage talent pools and succession planning
  • Champion change initiatives, getting buy-in from board members

Qualifications for Head of HR:

  • 5+ years of senior, executive-level HR experience in a multinational environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
  • CIPD qualified with evidence of CPD
  • Solid knowledge of Malta employment law and proven experience applying updated
  • legislation to a variety of HR situations
  • Demonstrable commercial acumen
  • Passion for working with people in an international environment
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication, diplomatic and negotiation skills
  • Tact, and the ability to deal with difficult situations
  • Numerical and budgeting skills
  • Proficiency in English and preferably also French
