Job Description

Medelec Switchgear Ltd with 45 years of experience in the design and manufacture of air / gas insulated medium voltage switchgear, compact and mobile substations, control panels, low voltage distribution boards and automatic voltage regulators are seeking to recruit a Storekeeper / Driver.

The selected candidate must be an energetic person, able to work under pressure and have a hands-on approach.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect incoming goods, from internal and external suppliers, according to set procedures using the information provided on drawings and other instructions.
  • Issue material to production areas according to material lists and other official requests.
  • Loading and unloading of containers, preparing, inspecting and operating vehicles, and taking the necessary precautions eg: through the use of correct loading / unloading procedures.
  • Pick up and delivery a wide variety of items to different addresses according to instructions using company vehicles.
  • Clearing of heavy / light materials for disposal.
  • Pack goods according to the type of product and shipping conditions.
  • Ensure that access to stores is limited to authorised personnel only according to set procedures.
  • Transporting employees and visitors to and from the site and performing driver duties per management needs.
  • Handle sensitive correspondence or documentation (both direct / indirect and formal / informal communications) with due care and the strictest confidentiality.
  • Actively assisting the Stores department during their day-to-day activities.
  • Transporting materials with the use of a forklift and other vehicles as requested.
  • To ensure compliance with established health and safety procedures in line with the organisation’s policies, procedures, international standards and local regulations in the daily operation of the job.

Requirements:

  • A B1 + C1 driving licence is a must.
  • A forklift licence would be considered an asset.
  • Fluent in Maltese and English.
  • Experience in a similar post would be considered an asset.
