Job Description

Maar Foods Ltd, the company behind Fortify Meals and Garnish, is looking for an experienced kitchen manager to oversee the daily operations of our kitchen staff.

As the Kitchen Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing food preparation, ordering supplies, scheduling shifts, and monitoring inventory levels.

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have proven culinary and management experience. In addition to being an excellent communicator, you should also demonstrate outstanding leadership and organizational abilities. We’re looking for someone who wants to grow with the company and is ready to take on the following responsibilities of the role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Identify and document all product and employee issues, and work closely with upper management to develop solutions.
  • Order materials, supplies, and ingredients as required.
  • Supervise kitchen employees and organize food orders.
  • Oversee the food preparation and cooking process.
  • Monitor inventory levels and perform monthly inventory assessments.
  • Ability to create and implement workflows and processes, including Standard Operating Procedures, to ensure efficiency and consistency.
  • Schedule work shifts for employees.
  • Store all food products in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Ensure the kitchen is clean and organized.
  • Maintain monthly cost reports.
  • Check food plating, and temperature, and ensure that SOPs are followed.

Kitchen Manager specifications:

  • Professional appearance.
  • Ability to manage and motivate staff.
  • Computer literate.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Willingness to take initiative and make decisions.
  • Ability to delegate tasks effectively.
  • Proven work experience as a Kitchen Manager, Restaurant Manager or Head Chef.
  • Hands-on experience with planning menus and ordering ingredients.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of recipes.
  • Familiarity with kitchen sanitation and safety regulations.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Conflict management abilities.
  • Ability to manage a team in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Flexibility to work during evenings and weekends.
