Job Description

Overall Purpose of Position
The position is accountable to the Manager Tooling and is responsible for providing Tool Engineering services that support the needs of the ONE Tooling and Equipment and the Production department.

General Responsibilities

  • Manage the leasing to third-party MROs and customer for revenue generation;
  • Loan tools for internal LHT use;
  • Project preparation – tooling requirements processing;
  • Project preparation meeting attendance;
  • Planned maintenance control and monitoring;
  • Dynamic issue solving related to the preparation and current projects;
  • Manage replacement of tools;
  • Tool liquidation;
  • Calibration support as required;
  • Alternative tooling process implementation and adherence;
  • Cost control;
  • PR creation;
  • Manage contractors;
  • Manage audits;
  • Concession requests;
  • Production interface / point of contact;
  • Budget reporting;
  • Tool / equipment scrapping;
  • Training process;
  • Deputising as necessary in the absence of tooling manager or tooling executive;
  • Any other duty as may be necessary from time to time;
  • Other duties / projects as may be assigned from time to time.

Ensures to be kept well informed and up-to-date on technical developments in areas of specialisation.

Working Conditions

  • Expected to be flexible in order to meet deadlines and attend meetings after office hours;
  • May be required to travel on Company business;
  • May be required to perform duties in the next higher position as part of personal development programme.

Knowledge / Skills / Qualifications

  • Engineering qualification at MQF Level 6;
  • Ideally minimum 2 years of experience in a similar industry;
  • Seasoned judgment and the ability to set priorities and take decisions;
  • Demonstrated capability to manage one’s time and co-ordinate matters needing attention;
  • Knowledge and ability to work in a fully computerised environment;
  • Interpersonal as well as written and oral communication skills;
  • Strong organisational ability to provide support and deal with a broad variety of issues and prioritise issues;
  • Experience with material resource planning systems (preferably SAP) is an advantage;
  • Ability to work under pressure and with minimum supervision;
  • Ability to work as part of a team;
  • A good command of English and Maltese both spoken and written;
  • Good technical and mechanical understanding;
  • Good analytical skills;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Self-motivated, confident and methodical.
