Job Description
Main job purpose
To assist the Chief Executive Officer in presenting and maintaining a positive public image of the Authority, including proactively developing media outreach strategies, implementing service announcements, working with strategic partners, and assisting the Authority’s senior staff with public speaking engagements.
Main responsibilities
- To assist in the development and implementation of a strategic Public Relations plan for the Management of the Authority.
- Lead and evaluate communications activity in line with the Authority’s communications strategy.
- To develop and cultivate new and existing internal communications channels.
- To formulate press releases and publications ensuring timeliness and efficiency.
- To liaise with advertising agencies in designing and creating new advertisements, calls for tenders, as well as the publication of the Authority’s brochures and its Annual Report.
- To develop a positive working relationship with all media sectors and houses.
- To scan media releases on a daily basis for articles concerning the business of the Authority and its workforce, informing the CEO and the Chief Officer – Corporate Services Directorate, and formulate immediate responses if required, after due authorization has been granted.
- Monitor social media and web content for any news or comment/s that might require the attention and possible reply of the Authority.
- To identify and coordinate participation in key external events.
- Responsible for updating of web content on the Authority’s website.
- Responsible for administering the Authority’s communication budget.
- To work on campaigns and initiatives and ensure coordination of activity with other business units.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by the CEO and / or the Chief Officer – Corporate Services Directorate.
Qualifications
- In possession of an MQF Level 5 qualification in Media and Public Relations or another related subject, and, a minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience in a media-related role.
And / Or
- A minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience in a media-related role.
- Good knowledge of verbal and written communication in both Maltese and English is essential.
- Possessing sound knowledge of the laws and regulations governing advertising and media.
