The Junior Systems Administrator assists in the management and maintenance of the group’s IT infrastructure. They will work under the guidance of the head of department to support network operations, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure the smooth functioning of our systems and services. The Junior Systems Administrator will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced IT professionals and gain hands-on experience in managing and supporting IT infrastructure.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical support to end-users.
  • Assisting in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, workstations, and other IT equipment.
  • Monitoring system performance and responding to alerts to ensure optimal uptime and performance.
  • Performing routine system backups and ensuring data integrity and availability.
  • Assisting in the administration of user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
  • Maintaining documentation of IT systems, configurations, and procedures.
  • Collaborating with team members to implement security best practices and ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards.
  • Assisting in the evaluation and implementation of new technologies and solutions to improve system efficiency and reliability.
  • Participating in on-call rotations and responding to after-hours incidents as needed.

Skills and qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field will be considered an asset.
  • Previous experience in IT support or system administration roles is preferred but not required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues independently.
  • Understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and services (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, …).
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals are considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with Windows operating systems.
  • Knowledge of virtualisation technologies (Hyper-V) is beneficial.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and tools.
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English.
  • Possess strong customer service skills.
  • Be organised with a sharp eye for detail.
