We are currently seeking a Group Finance Manager to join our team.
Job profile
Reporting to the Group CFCO, the Group Finance Manager is responsible for managing and leading the Accounts team and representing the team with Group management. Main responsibilities include managing accounting operational matters, management of working capital, preparation and review of the management accounts, the training and development of the accounts team, dealing with external auditors and other ad-hoc accounting activities.
Key accountabilities
- Managing accounting operational matters
- Manage and lead the Accounts team to deal with operational matters
- Manage the maintenance of financial ledgers, ensuring the integrity and completeness of accounting records
- Maintain and improve the Group entities’ accounting internal process and control systems, overseeing adherence to all applicable legislations and Group policies
- Support the CFCO, CEO and other Group management with any reporting requirements
- Manage / review the raw milk payment process as well as the payroll computation
- Be actively involved in the budget and product costing processes
Management of working capital
- Monitor the accounts receivables of Group entities, set meetings with clients as and when required and take actions to mitigate the risks of bad debts
- Timely reporting to management on the accounts receivables and propose further actions as required
- Monitor the cashflow position of Group entities and manage a cashflow forecast to ensure that the Group is always in a position to meet payment schedules
- Frequent reporting of areas relating to working capital
- Monitor the accounts payable, ensure that supplier reconciliations are performed in line with established schedules and that suppliers are paid on a timely basis
Preparation and review of the management accounts and statutory accounts
- Prepare and/or review management accounts and other internal reporting in a timely manner
- Ensuring compliance with tax legislation and regulations through the correct and timely reporting of VAT returns, FSS documentation, liaison with tax consultants on the preparation, review and submission of income tax computations
- Analyse the financials by cost centre and report the financial figures to the respective cost centre owners, highlighting potential cost-saving opportunities
- Support external auditors in carrying out the financial audit of Group entities
Team management
- Plan, assign and review the team’s work
- Manage the Accounting team to ensure that all team members fulfil their responsibilities in an efficient manner. Motivate, lead and training employees and appraise their performance
- Develop staff to secure proper succession plan and allow talents growth
- Conduct performance evaluations in a timely manner and provide fair feedback to the team
Others
- Manage and lead any projects that are relevant to the Accounts team
- Perform any other additional duties that may arise from time to time
Ideal candidate profile
- Education
- A warranted and fully qualified Accountant
- Able to communicate in Maltese and English language
- Experience
- Minimum of 5 years overall experience in accounting
- 2 years managerial experience
- Technical skills
- Financial accounting and analytical skills
- Sound working knowledge of IFRSs
- Able to use good written and verbal communication skills to inspire trust
