Job Description

Ivalife is undergoing an application with the Malta Financial Services Authority to become a new life insurance company. We aim to establish ourselves as a key player in the Maltese market as one of Malta’s leading financial institutions. We’re putting a small and dynamic team together offering a full range of new and exciting life insurance and savings products to both personal and business customers. To kick-off we’re looking for a Head of Compliance and DPO.

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the compliance function
  • Proactively drive and lead compliance-related education, insight and training to business partners and distribution networks alike
  • Sound knowledge of current laws, regulations and common practices in compliance and be able to provide training
  • Develop and review company policies, identifying any shortfalls and making recommendations in order to address such weaknesses
  • Self-motivated, able to take ownership in a dynamic environment with a positive mindset
  • Create and manage effective action plans in response to audit discoveries and regular compliance health checks
  • Able to define, structure and prioritise workload for themselves and others, with the flexibility and capability to change when required
  • Providing strategic direction to the management team on compliance
  • Preparing and presenting clear and concise compliance reports to the board
  • Keep abreast of GDPR regulations, and other such related regulations, while ensuring that internal data protection policy conforms
  • Interact effectively with regulatory authorities on compliance issues

Competences and experiences
The potential candidate should have a positive attitude, be well-organised, with a disposition to learn and have a team-oriented approach to work.

You will also:

  • Have a bachelor’s degree in law, finance, business management or a related field
  • 3 years’ proven experience in a compliance officer role
  • Understanding and familiarisation with general EU insurance regulations and directives
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Highly-analytical with strong attention to detail
  • Good IT skills and knowledge are essential
  • Judgement to balance commercial and compliance risks to achieve positive outcomes
  • Ability to deal with confidential matters with discretion and tact
  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly and to interact confidently with internal and external customers
  • Ability to work well in a team
