Job Description

As the name implies, Il-Veduta is blessed with unparalleled views of two-thirds of Malta, directly overlooking the countryside and distant 180-degree sea views. Situated just outside the fortifications of Malta’s old capital, Mdina, the restaurant has become a household name among families looking for the perfect lunch or dinner venue.

Il-Veduta Restaurant is a very well-established restaurant that has been in operation for 30 years and due to a continuous increase in demand, we are looking at expanding the team to continue driving the business forward.

The candidate will report directly to the Managing Director.

Overall Purpose of Position
To oversee all aspects of the operation and to ensure that this runs smoothly on a day-to-day basis. The position’s primary responsibility is ensuring effective methods are put in place guaranteeing organisational effectiveness and to run on maximum productivity by providing direction and leadership.

Responsibilities include overseeing the supervision of employees, development and implementation of strategies, policies and practices to deliver a professional and consistent service throughout.

The Operations Manager is expected to harness a working environment that encourages teamwork, energy, creativity and ensures financial targets are achieved.
To have a hands-on approach and assist subordinates on the floor as required.

Main Responsibilities

  • Monitoring sales figures and managing forecasts and financial plans
  • Ensuring adequate stock of food and beverage is being maintained, together with cutlery, china, glassware and any other equipment required for the smooth
  • operation of the restaurant and kitchen
  • Identifying and recommending suppliers who offer the best products at the right price
  • Ensuring that there is no excess waste and breakages in the restaurant and kitchen
  • Guiding the head chef and restaurant manager on business exigencies in preparation for weekly rosters
  • Monitoring product quality and service provided
  • Organising, leading and motivating the team to reach targets and customer service excellence
  • To be polite, courteous and professional at all times even when under pressure or dealing with problematic situations
  • To have a hands-on approach and assist subordinates as required
  • Responding to sales enquiries from new and existing clients
  • Dealing with customer complaints and comments
  • Ensuring all departments’ operation runs smoothly
  • Recruiting, training and monitoring staff

Salary commensurate with experience.
