Job Description

We are looking for a reliable and suitably qualified individual to perform the following set of duties within our internal accounts department:

  • Posting and filing of purchase invoices
  • Issuing cheque payments and remittance advices
  • Supplier statement reconciliations
  • Posting of bank statements and keeping proper documentation
  • Posting of general ledger entries
  • Handling internal requests for system generated reports, such as accounts receivable statements, accounts receivable transactions and prior year bills
  • Assisting with the preparation of sales orders and sales invoices
  • Daily posting of receipts in the accounting system
  • Being responsible for the petty cash imprest system
  • Carry out weekly bank reconciliations of selected banks
  • Any other tasks which may crop up from time to time

The ideal candidate for this position must have the following qualifications and competencies:

  • Minimum qualification requirement of an A level certificate in Accounting
  • AAT qualification would be considered an asset
  • Be able to work independently with minimum supervision while being a good team player
  • Be computer literate and conversant with Microsoft Office applications, mainly Excel, Outlook and Word
  • Be organised and reliable with attention to detail
  • Be able to handle multiple tasks
  • Be fluent in written and spoken of both Maltese and English languages
  • Be creative and have strong organisational skills
  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Have a positive attitude with a ‘can do’ approach

This position would be ideal for someone who is at the initial stages of a career in accounting. The Firm would be prepared to sponsor further studies to help the employee achieve a recognised professional accounting qualification. Previous work experience in the field would be considered an asset, however, all the necessary training will be given.
