We are seeking to recruit Technical Officer – Civil Engineering to join our team.

Here’s what you need to have to match our requirements:

  • Have a Technical diploma level or relevant experience in CEW;
  • Be in possession of an ECDL certificate or equivalent;
  • A common-sense approach to work with a good attitude, adaptable to the exigencies of work and dependable in seeing a job through its end;
  • Be courteous and communicates appropriately with the public, fellow employees, supervisors and customers;
  • Possess excellent negotiation and communication skills;
  • Identify problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and propose solutions;
  • A valid driving licence.

Here’s how you can hit a few plus points for this position

  • Knowledge of Fixed Access Network Planning concepts;
  • Knowledge of outside plant deployment practices;
  • Proficiency in the use of IT systems (e.g. NITT, CRM, Dakar, Swift, IRIX etc.);
  • 2 years experience in a Civil Engineering environment.

Expertise in civil engineering works practices including

  • Standards and policies;
  • Equipment handling and installation;
  • Test and measurement procedures;
  • Certification procedures;
  • Use of associated tools.

If this describes you, then this is a glimpse of what you’ll be doing

  • Oversee, coordinate and certify civil engineering works through the mediation of fit-for-use designs to contractors, in line with design policies and priorities as set by the Company, whilst ensuring that quantity and control are also enforced;
  • Follow the infrastructure build process from the handover of designs to contractors, permit the procedure to enable works, certification of works and move for payment and ensure that records of built infrastructure are taken. You shall act as a support contact point to GO employees, contractors and 3rd parties taking the initiative to handle any challenges holding back work;
  • Be ready and available to liaise with 3rd parties, legal entities, residents and contractors, as and when required, to ensure that works are carried out in the minimal time possible as well as ensure that GO’s Civil Engineering network is maintained in an optimal condition;
  • Ensure that Civil Engineering documentation is returned to planning operations ready to be recorded. In carrying out this duty, as-fitted measurements need to be collected;
  • Ensure that works are being undertaken according to the Company’s latest health and safety and quality standards and taking corrective action, indicating the appropriate way of working as required;
  • Indicate GO’s Civil Engineering infrastructure to 3rd parties carrying out works in close proximity to GO’s infrastructure, whilst following the Company’s overseeing process;
  • Ensure that procedures are followed to avoid or minimise downtime to clients through constant communication with other sections, clients and 3rd parties as required during network build or 3rd party works undertaken in close proximity to GO’s infrastructure;
  • Report on the status of works through the constant updating of tasks using GO’s and 3rd party systems;
  • Take the initiative to remain constantly up to date with the latest technological advancements in own area of operation whilst also advising on new ways of operating.
