Job Description
We are looking for on IT Support Officer to be responsible for the support and maintenance of ICT products to the highest level of performance. Serves as a technical contact in the area of technological administration. Supports the systems and system applications which the organisation uses. Identifies methods, solutions, and provides support and training to provide a high level of service to the customers of the department.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Serve as the first point of contact for users seeking technical assistance
- Track all instances of support by using ticket-tracking software
- Keep current systems updated and running smoothly
- Upgrade the systems and its components when the need arises
- Maintain, back-up and secure databases, as well as restore files as needed
- Perform troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions
- Assist in the development, delivery and management of technology-based business solutions
- Assist in the integration of technical and application components
- Assist in the design of coding and testing programme modules
- Participate in the execution and documentation of tests
Skills & Experience
- Basic understanding of IT systems.
- 3+ years’ experience in IT Operations or educational equivalent
- Understanding of ticketing / workflow systems
- Working knowledge of host and network administrative tasks (shared drive mapping, basic network troubleshooting and topology concepts, group policy)
- Practical understanding of file structures and file permissions
- Strong talent for problem-solving—the ability to understand a situation by breaking it apart into smaller working parts, and trace the implications in a step-by-step methodical way
- Good oral and written communication skills in English and Maltese
- Demonstrated ability to teach new skills to lesser experienced colleagues
- Additional language skills are a strong benefit
- Knowledge of contemporary hardware, software and network architectures
Qualifications
- MQF level 4 qualification or higher in IT education, or a recognised appropriate comparable qualification
- Basic information technology qualifications (MCSA, Security+, Networking+, CCNA, Redhat, Linux etc) are a plus
