Job Description

The Assistant Manager’s main responsibility is to assist the Store Manager to maximise sales and profitability while supporting and retaining a high performing team.

The Assistant Manager is part of the retail team and directly accountable for the profitability and day-to-day running of the store where they are appointed.

Main responsibilities

  • General responsibilities
    • Provide leadership within the unit and foster excellent teamwork with all members of the staff
    • Responsibility for the monitoring and planning of shop strategy and budgets as part of the management team
    • Ensure sales are monitored and all records are up to date
  • Customer first
    • Delivery of a ‘Customer first’ experience exceeding customer expectations
    • Supports their team to ensure a ‘customer first’ experience is delivered consistently
    • Provide excellent customer care and service at all times
  • KPIs
    • Exceed sale targets and delivers LFL growth along with ATV, AUS and conversion
    • Exceed company target with gold card sign-ups
    • Supports stock file accuracy- adheres to all stock handling policies to ensure stock accuracy and minimise stock loss
  • Communication
    • Ensure team awareness of sale targets, ATV and AUS targets on a daily, weekly and monthly, focusing on their achievements
    • Ensures that the weekly sales figures are kept up to date to monitor performance and management purposes
    • Communicate clearly and concisely with the Store Manager and, General manager to drive business opportunities
    • Undertake appraisals and set objectives in conjunction with the HR manager
    • Satisfactory handle and resolve any complaints from customers
    • Liaise with hub deliveries stock and uplift
  • Commercially
    • Actively identify and follow all visual merchandise brand and company guidelines
    • Change shop layout and display as required
    • Ensures displays and shelving are clean and attractive and encourages multi-sales
    • Confidently analyses store performance, Franks newsletter and all store email reports
  • Team
    • Supports the store recruitment process. Actively seeking new employers to join the company
    • Create an inclusive – welcome approachable environment for employees to thrive in
    • Confidently delivers feedback and escalates any performance issues with the Store Manager
    • Leadership
    • Leads, motivates and inspires the team – to be a role model!
    • Lead team meetings and training
    • In conjunction with HR guidance, coach and develop their team and individuals to achieve their full potential
  • Store operations
    • Provide a safe environment for staff and customers and adhere to company health and safety policies and procedures
    • Understands and adheres to all company loss prevention practices
    • Ensures that cash is up, and banking procedures are adhered to

    • The post holder may be required to work in any outlet

Timeframe: This is a permanent full-time position and entails flexible working hours including working on Saturdays and Sundays as required.
