Job Description
The Foundation for Medical Services is seeking to recruit Draughts Person / Site Coordinator to join its team.
Duties and responsibilities
- Drafting responsibilities:
- Monitoring the installations of the contract works to ensure compliance with the contractual programme, drawings, specifications and the relevant specifications and brining any matters of concern to the attention of the Head;
- Being aware of the contractual obligations of the Client and Contractor and acting in an appropriate manner so that at all times the interests of the Client are safeguarded;
- Assisting in the preparation of graphics, architectural designs and drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches and specifications using AutoCAD (REVIT and / or BIM a plus), and ensuring that design drawings conform to specifications provided;
- Assisting in the creation of design presentations and publicity graphics;
- Coordinating drawings of all design and engineering disciplines including Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment diagrams (FF&E), identifying building services conflicts in design;
- Assisting in the preparation and uploading of documentation for Public Authorities (PA) and Environmental Resources Authority (ERA) submittals;
- Preparing and assisting Architects / Engineers with construction documents and drawings for Tender and Construction and providing assistance in the preparation of tender / contract documents, assisting with Bills of Quantities and Specifications as required;
- Conducting Research and Analysis in pre-design, building materials and assemblies.
- Project records:
- Assist in tracking and reporting contractor dates and duration on a weekly basis;
- Tracking and maintaining record of changes during project execution or revisions to contract documents and assist in the assessment of the value of contract variations and the issuing of interim payment certificates;
- Assisting in projects from design state through to completion and handing over to Client, while maintaining record drawing and document files.
- Site Coordinator responsibilities:
- Providing all necessary assistance to the Head of Architecture in the procurement of works, goods or services such as site surveying of existing conditions both cadastral and level nature. The preparation of reports, assisting with works programmes and budgets;
- Executing site and building existing conditions / field work, field notes and interpolate field notes into AutoCAD drawings;
- Liaising with the Site Superintendent and / or Projects Managers in providing technical guidance and support to other Site Coordinators of FMS;
- Liaising as necessary with the other members of the Client’s project management team to support the overall project cost and time objectives set for the FMS Capital Projects
- Organizing files and project documents according to FMS procedures;
- Assisting with the project change management, review of contract variations and assess change orders;
- Assisting in quality assurance procedures and participating in Architecture and Civil Engineering quality control meetings with consultants and contractors;
- Assisting with Quantity Surveying and being aware of the contractual obligations of the Client and Contractor and acting in an appropriate manner so that at all times the interest of the Client are safeguarded;
- Maintaining daily, weekly and monthly site diaries as appropriate and keeping the Head of Architecture informed on the progress of the works and any problems or issues that may affect time, quality or cost, and identifying potential delays and recommending corrective actions;
- Reviewing and commenting upon the contractor’s progress reports;
- Attending meetings with the contractor’s designer as needs dictate and where requested, to represent the Head;
- Resolving and escalating problems in a timely and diligent manner while having site visits as required;
- Checking the Certificates of Payments for Works carried out by the Contractors and measured by the Quantity Surveyor.
Coordination and communication
- Identifying opportunities for improvement and making constructive suggestions for change;
- Checking and verifying design drawings to conform to specifications and design data and keep the Design and Engineering team; informed of issues and changes as the project develops;
- Understanding how to communicate difficult / sensate information tactfully and confidentially;
- Understanding and effectively complying with corporate communication systems and document controls;
- Ensuring that the Client requirements are clearly identified and met;
- Any other duties as may be required by the Employer.
Eligibility requirements
- Must have an MQF Level 4 in Building Services Engineering / Construction Engineering or equivalent;
- Must have more than 2 years of experience in Draughting / Site Coordination;
- Formal Training on Autodesk ACAD and other related software;
- The ability to communicate in both Maltese and English languages will be considered an asset;
- Preferable experience in performing site surveys and producing as-built drawings;
- Preferable experience working in a multidisciplinary projects team.
Type of contract and salary range
- Contract Type: Indefinite contract with 12 months probationary period;
- Salary: An attractive salary package, including a performance bonus are being offered with
