Job Description
Overall purpose of position
The DCS Network and Cybersecurity Officer is expected to install, configure, and support Enemed’s critical network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), protocols, and technologies encompassing both virtual and physical Windows platforms.
In addition, the DCS Network and Cybersecurity Officer is to perform continuous security assessments, constant monitoring, testing of various processes, continuously updating of policies and procedures and assists during security assessments carried out by 3rd parties. Furthermore, the DCS Network and Cybersecurity Officer must be hands-on, and willing to assist within other areas of the IT department as needed.
Duties and responsabilities
- Diagnose hardware and software problems of the existing network while requesting new replacement components.
- Perform backups of the server / network system and test disaster recovery operations.
- Develop, maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments, including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations in accordance with agreed standards.
- Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures in order to protect data, software, and hardware. Must carry out continuous assessments and be able to draft a mitigation plan according to the company risk register.
- Operate master consoles in order to monitor the performance of computer systems and networks, and to coordinate computer network access and use.
- Perform routine network start-up and shutdown procedures and maintain control records.
- Design, configure, and test computer hardware, networking software and operating system.
- Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes.
- Monitor network performance in order to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future.
- Gather data pertaining to customer and business needs, and use such information to identify, predict, interpret, and evaluate system and network requirements so that the most efficient and cost-effective system solution is recommended.
- Analyze equipment performance records in order to determine the need for repair or replacement.
- Maintain logs related to network functions, as well as maintenance and repair records.
- Maintain an inventory of parts for emergency repairs.
- Perform preventive maintenance, test hardware components (out of office hours), resolve malfunctions and keep recorded results in an incident management system.
- Evaluate / install / configure and / or remove software on various ICT equipment in accordance with agreed standards.
- Test software components, resolve and record malfunctions and result in an incident management system. Software installed and / or removed is to be recorded in an ICT asset register system.
- Providing user support by investigating and resolving user problems and guiding users accordingly in specified timeframes.
- Implemented enhancements are to be in close collaboration with the Engineering and / or Management teams.
- Perform user accounts management and apply security permissions through established standard operating procedures (SOPs) while logging or recording such requests in the associated Work Log.
- The Officer may be involved in supporting the implementation and management of various future ICT projects at Enemed in the business, infrastructure, and business-process re-engineering.
Qualifications and work experience required to meet position objectives
- Knowledge of LAN and WAN networking technologies and protocols will be considered an asset.
- Must have a recognized diploma (MQF Level 5) or higher in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) or Computer Studies or a related field.
- Candidates who are in the process of achieving a level 5 qualification or higher in Information and Communications Technology or Computer Studies or a related field may also be considered.
- Work experience in supporting an ICT enterprise environment is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of Fiber technology is considered an asset.
- Must have 3 years’ experience working in any ICT field.
Technical skills required
- Be able to generate reports and understand the requirements provided.
- Knowledge of the installation, configuration and administration of Windows Operating Systems.
- Have delivered technical services, interacting with users, hands-on administration.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Tools, programming and tools such as Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Share Point and associated development tools.
- Reasonable knowledge and understanding of the current utility business environment as well as the technological innovations and improvements which are influencing the way a utility operates.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with critical thinking.
Personal skills and competencies required
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer service orientation at all levels within the company.
- Ability to work on own initiative with time management skills.
