The company is well renowned in the market for Michael Debono Limited, an importer of Toyota in Malta. The business is however much more than just a Toyota dealership. Over the years the company ventured into various areas including the selling and servicing of commercial vehicles and motorcycles. It also invested in an engineering company that is focused on delivering storage and racking solutions and in a technology company that delivers customer experience solutions. Debono Group is seeking to engage a Chief Marketing Officer to join the Senior Management team.

The CMO will complement the existing Marketing team which is responsible for supporting the whole Group. The Chief Marketing Officer is responsible for all activities related to the conceptualisation and implementation of the market strategy and marketing targets.

This position is being offered on a full-time indefinite basis and reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.

The Role

  • Handle business and market development; market research and planning.
  • Offer strategic direction for promotion and advertising.
  • Ensure an appropriate coordination with the Sales team.
  • Providing support in the area of marketing strategy and management to the C-level officials.
  • Develop the annual marketing plan and the strategies, tactics and resources necessary to achieve system and goals.
  • Provide leadership and/or support the design, development, and implementation of products and service lines.
  • Oversee and provide direction to market and competitor analysis.
  • Provide leadership, direction and management of the market research function.
  • Making use of data analytics skills to ensure that relevant and accurate data about market and customer trends is available to make long-term, financially feasible and sustainable data drive recommendations to the CEO.
  • Ensure all marketing communications are coordinated, support marketing plan objectives and are an effective expenditure of resources.
  • Provide input and support to the company’s leadership in the development of joint ventures, affiliations and partnership arrangements.
  • Coordinate marketing efforts of resellers, including international resellers, with strategic plans and objectives.
  • Provide marketing skills and expertise to the company by building, developing and managing a marketing team capable of carrying out the necessary marketing strategies and tactics.
  • Participate fully in professional societies and activities related to the target industry.
  • Prepare presentations to explain the company’s current and future strategies.


  • A degree in an area pertaining to Marketing, with a postgraduate qualification, is considered an asset.
  • 10 years prior experience working in a managerial role, in an area relating to marketing.
  • Strong leadership skills, and the ability to drive the team towards the reaching of targets.
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
  • A proven track record of achieving results in well-defined areas.
  • Experience in using data analytics to develop sustainable long-term strategies.
  • Passionate for technology and mobility.
