Position description
In the role of Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for managing the entire Dakar data centre, overseeing the research, design, implementation, documentation and ongoing support of the company’s server infrastructure to ISO27001 standards.
Job requirements
- Work independently in coordination with Dakar management to manage, execute and document all aspects of technical and security projects related to the Dakar data centre.
- Develop, configure, and maintain cloud-based systems and resources hosted both locally and on a Microsoft Azure environment.
- Attain optimum usage of computing resources through an effective system process that includes evaluation, design, installation, testing, implementation, and maintenance.
- Maintain a high level of system availability by monitoring the daily performance of the various computing systems with the applicable software tools. Evaluate and recommend additional architecture and monitoring tools when deemed necessary.
- Install and maintain desktops, backups, servers, and network systems as necessary.
- Demonstrate advanced problem-solving skills, applying learning and experience to technical challenges.
- Follow procedures and protocols in line with ISO27001 requirements.
- Manage Dakar’s disaster recovery strategy.
Qualifications
- A bachelor of Science degree in a technical discipline and / or relevant experience.
- A minimum of 5 years experience in managing Windows Server environments.
- A minimum of 2 years experience in managing Microsoft Azure environments.
- Strong knowledge of MS Windows Server, MS Azure, and Active Directory.
- Knowledge of enterprise-level backup architecture and operations.
- Strong knowledge in managing Veeam Backup environments.
- Candidates must have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Candidate must have excellent problem-solving skills in the relevant disciplines.
