Job Description

CE Installations Ltd. provides both the installation and maintenance of Mechanical and Electrical services for a wide variety of customers across a diverse range of projects.

CE Installations has over 200 multi-cultural employees and due to recent growth, the company is seeking to recruit a Head of the Quantity Surveying Manager to join our dynamic team.

Whilst reporting to the General Manager, the Quantity Surveying Manager is responsible to issue the request for payments. The chosen candidate will lead the Quantity Surveying team to ensure that request for payments adhere to the clients’ contractual agreements or otherwise. The Quantity Surveyor Manager is expected to analyse that the request for payments are valid and include all the actual resources used during the projects.

General Duties

  • Implement the strategy of CE Installations Ltd. by monitoring the day-to-day activities of the quantity surveying operations
  • Take an active role and participate in the managerial department of CE Installations Ltd
  • Prepare department’s progress or status reports
  • Analyse and deal with issues which arise from quantity surveying operations
  • Plan the quantity surveying departmental budget
  • Attend relevant training and workshops to increase own knowledge
  • Travel to attend conventions and similar events, while also gaining more knowledge and practices

Team Development Duties

  • Prepare employee work schedules and assign specific duties
  • Coach and mentor employees by providing a career development plan for each employee within the team
  • Manage and monitor key performance indicators set for the Quantity and Surveying department
  • Handle the employees’ performance appraisal within the department
  • Get involved in the recruitment and selection process

Departmental Duties

  • Implement cost-effective practices by maximising both efficiency, creativity and innovation in all procedures within the Quantity Surveying department
  • Establish variations, settlement of requests for payments and clear any billing disputes
  • Monitor, calculate and prepare staged requests for payments as per agreements with clients or otherwise
  • Communicate claim for payments with the Accounting department
  • Evaluate subcontractors’ certifications of completed projects
  • Request information on any fitted variations and project status updates from the Project Scheduling and Implementation department
  • Seek the Engineers’ certification for request for payments

Work Schedule

40 hours a week from Monday to Friday, provided that the chosen candidate is bound to put in all the necessary hours required for the efficient performance of his/her duties


  • Minimum experience of 5 years in a similar position within the Mechanical, Electrical and HVAC industry

  • Strong numerical understanding
  • Financial management skills
  • Have a sound understanding of contracts
  • Experience of cost / variation procedures
  • Preferably has a good understanding of the construction industry
  • Must have problem solving abilities, be self-motivated and proactive

  • Have a logical mindset

  • Have a good command of speaking and writing skills in English and Maltese will be considered an asset

Education and Training

  • Diploma Qualification in Quantity Surveying or in a similar subject
  • European passport or working permission to work in Malta
  • Clean police conduct certificate (must be presented)
