Job Description

Bank of Valletta is seeking to recruit an experienced Relationship Manager within its Corporate Finance function.

Talented individuals having relevant experience in business and/or credit environments are being offered the opportunity to work in a related area with one of Malta’s top employers.

The selected applicant will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining a hands-on approach and commitment to the expansion and success of the business by implementing strategies that increase productivity and enable sales targets achievement;
  • Locating areas of improvement and proposing corrective actions that meet challenges and leverage growth opportunities;
  • Providing advice and consulting services so as to proactively meet clients’ requirements in order to increase the value and quality of the loan portfolio;
  • Analyzing the risk profile of a business and interpreting the financial data whilst preparing and commenting on proposals and reviews of facilities for onward transmission for the Bank’s consideration;
  • Scrutinizing and verifying the conditions of sanction in terms of the final decision before forwarding the facility letters to the customers;
  • Monitoring exposures of the loan portfolio on a daily basis;
  • Utilizing the Bank’s enhanced business relationship to promote and generate leads for the sale of Bank’s products thus increasing the non-interest income of the Bank;
  • Attracting new business to the bank, fostering new relationships and cross-selling the Bank’s products to top customers to ensure further contribution to the Bank’s profit margin;
  • Maintaining an up to date understanding of the Credit Policy document and keeping abreast of developments in both the regulatory and economic environment whilst also ensuring that the team is aware of these developments.

The ideal candidate for this position must:

  • Possess knowledge and experience in credit and business environments;
  • Possess an MQF Level 6 Degree or higher in any one of the following areas: Business, Banking or Finance or any other related area;
  • Have a strong understanding of the rules, regulations and procedures governing credit;
  • Have a strong knowledge of lending practices;
  • Have a strong analytical skills;
  • Have the ability to work under pressure.
